On the bike
My son and I ride the local harescramble series, enduros and some motocross. Goggles always pinched our noses and made breathing tough — so I built the airtab. This is the intro.
The pinch
Lower foam presses on the sidewalls of the nose. On a deep inhale the internal valve collapses, nasal breathing is blocked, the mouth opens, and humid air fogs the lens right when you need to see roots, ruts, and roost.
You can loosen the strap and leak dust. You can cut foam and wreck the seal. Or you can push the cheeks the other direction — the same move ENTs call the Cottle maneuver. This improves natural nasal breathing, decreases mouth breathing and fog.
Passive. Goggle-integrated.

Align the pad centered on the cheek foam, lined up with the bottom rim. Feel it before you peel.

Peel the red liner from the 3M VHB backing. Press firmly for 30 seconds.

Install goggles normally. Strap tension activates lateral cheek pressure — that’s what opens the valves.
Goggle foam pinches the internal nasal valve. Airtab reverses that collapse so you can breathe through your nose when the heart rate is high — not just on the start line.
Mouth breathing dumps humid air up into the lens. Keep the mouth closed and the foam seal actually has a chance.
They sit on the lower foam, not under it. High-bond adhesive, clean release — they have not chewed a lens, frame, or foam on any goggle we’ve run.
Any foam-lined goggle
The Cottle problem isn’t a motocross problem. It’s a goggle problem. Ski, snowboard, sled, ATV, mountain bike — if the foam presses on the nasal valves and breathing is tight, Airtab is the same 30-second install to correct the problem.
Cold air plus mouth-breathing is a fogged lens on the pitch you need to see. Same foam, same strap, same nasal valves — just more at stake in the trees.
Helmet on, goggles sealed, heart rate up for hours. Nasal breathing keeps the lens clearer when you can’t lift the goggles.
Dust wants a tight seal. A tight seal wants to collapse the valves. Keep the mouth closed and the foam actually does its job.
Goggles on steep, messy descents. Same Cottle problem at trail pace — airflow on the inhale, less humid dump into the lens.
Motocross and hare scrambles are still home. That’s where we built it.
Honest, because it matters
On the hottest, sweatiest days the 3M bond can release. That’s not a defect. The adhesive is strong enough for roost and strap tension, and gentle enough that it has never damaged a goggle we’ve tested. When they let go, they let go clean.
Plan on a fresh pair every few rides. We sell 4, 8, and 12-packs because Airtabs work — and because anything that lives on face foam in July heat is a consumable, not a forever part.
